The first MGTA (Members-Get-Together-Activities) of the year 2012 began on high note with more than 70 members and invited guests from the Business Continuity Management (BCM) fraternity gathered under one roof on May 10 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur to share, exchange and hear from fellow members and practitioners on the latest news, trends as well as practices on BCM and DRP.
The event was kick off by Carol Chia, Program Director of DRI Malaysia who shared and updated members on DRI’s latest news, updates and certification statistics followed by fellow member and practitioner Cik Nazrah Rosli (CBCP) who is Head of BCM, Maybank Group delivered an impactful case study entitled “Maybank Group BCM : Strengthening Local Venturing Global.”
Her presentation was followed by Mr. Lakshman Narayanaswamy, Co-Founder & Vice President, Enterprise Disaster Recovery Management, HP Malaysia with an equally insightful piece on “Elevate Business and IT Continuity while reducing Risk & Cost.”
First time presenter Mr. Marc Levin who is a psychologist by profession gave his perspective on BCM with his topic: “Crisis Trauma and Disaster: Adaptability and Management Strategies for Victims and Supporting Staff.”
Members were seen to be in high spirits listening to these dynamic presenters and the camaraderie was evident among the participants. This event fully sponsored by Hewlett-Packard (HP) Malaysia also gave Early Birds a wonderful surprise by rewarding them with a souvenir. More than 27 participants arrived as early as between 7.30am and 8.30am for the event!
HP also gave away 2 GPS for lucky draws and a fancy door gift for each and every participant.
The day capped with a scrumptious buffet lunch and many took the opportunity to network with fellow practitioners.
