Course Description

A well written Crisis Plan may fail if it is not periodically tested. This simulation exercise is designed specifically to expose participants to experience through gamified role plays in the simulated heat of incident and crisis response and the actions necessary to manage a crisis for your organization. This exercise aims to allow you to practice your crisis response capability using realistic and engaging scenarios.

FACILITATOR PROFILE

Mohd Jasbir Khan

Jasbir joined Petronas, National Oil Company Malaysia in 2000 and was the Head of Group, Crisis and Emergency Senior Manager. He last held the position of Head of Downstream, Crisis and Emergency Senior Manager. He has had extensive experience in training, planning, implementation and evaluation of crisis and emergency programs at senior management level for Petronas domestic and international operations.

He is a qualified trainer for Incident Command System (ICS), a recognized tool used worldwide for response during crisis and emergency management. He led the development of Petronas Group Crisis Plan, Petronas Downstream Crisis Management Plan, Emergency Response Plans, Petronas Guidelines on Commercial Airlines and Country Support Plans for Petronas international business units.

He was extensively involved in planning and execution of national and international level emergency exercises jointly conducted together with Malaysian Government authorities from National Security Division (MKN), Royal Malaysian Police, Royal Malaysian Navy, Fire and Rescue Department, Emergency Medical Services, Malaysian Embassy and Petronas domestic and international business units. He ensured simulations exercises were integrated to meet requirements of Petronas Crisis Plans and benchmarked against protocols and standards established in international standards and Malaysian regulatory requirements.

He is also a retired Senior Police Officer having served 23 years with the rank of Deputy Supt of the Royal Malaysian Police. He has also been a qualified commercial airplane and helicopter pilot with Royal Malaysian Police. He is a professionally trained and certified DRI International instructor approved to teach for DRI International since 2010.

OUTCOME

Through role plays in the simulated exercise, this allow participants to:


  • Identify their readiness to respond to an emergency & crisis in a coordinated, timely and effective manner;
  • Understand the orderly procedures for initial response and stabilization of a situation until the arrival of relevant authorities/responders, especially the key roles of CMT and ECC
  • Experience collaboration and coordination with relevant external entities and authorities i.e. MKN and other international practices;
  • Activate and exercise the developed BC Plan to recover Critical Business Functions (CBFs)
  • Managing Insurance Claims, investigation reports, monitoring gap closures from incidents/exercises
  • A practical checklist will be provided.
